Synopsis
“Bahia Sun” addresses with the Bahia War of Independence, which took place from 1821 to 1823. The large-scale conflict definitely expelled the Portuguese troops and consolidated Brazil’s independence, proclaimed in 1822 by Dom Pedro I. It also consolidated the creation and institution of the Brazilian Empire.
It is an essay documentary, a genre whose tone is based on the harmonic sum between the register of reality and a subjective reflection on the world.
The film has great cultural historical relevance in Brazil, as it creatively portrays one of the great events of the country’s independence, which remains unknown to most Brazilians.
