Synopsis
The documentary “Roots of Democracy – State-Society Relations” tells the history of democracy from the ideas of Rousseau, Hobbes and John Locke, the recent changes and the future of democracy, through the vision of Yara Frateschi, professor of ethics and political philosophy at the State University of Campinas (CAMPINAS), and Adrian Lavalle, professor of political science at the School of Philosophy of the University of São Paulo (USP). The two scientists debate related issues to the democratization of authority in all spheres of social life and the weakening of socializing institutions, including new political studies showing the reasons behind the weakening of authority.
