Hermes Leal
Hermes Leal holds a Master’s degree in Cinema, specializing in screenwriting, from ECA/USP, and a PhD in Linguistics, specializing in Semiotics of Passions, from FFLCH/USP. He is a journalist, writer, and documentary filmmaker with decades of experience in documentary research for television and film, beginning his career in the 1990s, where he produced important works such as documentaries about Chico Mendes and about censorship in Brazil during the dictatorship.
He created two film magazines, Cisco and Revista de CINEMA. He was the general director of journalism at Rede Manchete, later working at SBT and Record. He is the author of eight published books, including two novels, two biographies – including the bestseller “The Enigma of Colonel Fawcett” (4th edition) – and two narrative theories. He has directed, written, and produced 20 films and 6 television series. He teaches masterclasses, lectures, and workshops on screenwriting.

Filmmaker and writer Orlando Senna directed fiction films ("Iracema: An Amazonian Transaction", "Rough Diamond", "Gitirana") and documentaries, wrote screenplays ("Ópera do Malandro", "Colonel Delmiro Gouveia") and novels ("A Taste of Eternity", "The Sheets and the Dreams"). He was the general director of the International Film and Television School of Cuba and TV Brasil, president of TAL-Television Latin America, and National Secretary of Audiovisual.
